Akash Deep Dedicates His Impressive Test Debut Performance To His Father

On his debut, Akash Deep impressed with his fiery pace and precision bowling. He troubled England’s top order, dismissing Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope quickly. He further rattled the batsmen by getting rid of Zak Crawley, leaving England struggling at 57/3.

Akash Deep, dedicating his performance to his late father, expressed that he felt aimless in life before his father passed away. He emphasized that it was his father’s wish to see him achieve success, motivating him to excel in cricket.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Akash Deep said: “I dedicate my debut to my father. I wasn’t able to do anything in life when he was alive and it was his dream that I do something good in life… so I dedicate this performance and debut to him.”

Akash Deep faced significant personal losses last year, but he persevered through difficult times and continued to excel in domestic cricket. Despite the emotional challenges, his impressive performances caught the selectors’ attention, earning him a spot in the Test team. Reflecting on his journey, Akash emphasized the support of his family and his determination to succeed despite adversity.

It was very emotional for me… I lost my brother and father in a year… my journey has been tough and my family played a big role. Mere paas khone ko kuch nahi tha, paane ko bahut kuch tha.”

Akash Deep stood out as the top performer with the ball on Day 1, claiming 3 wickets for 70 runs. He aims to build on this success on Day 2, aspiring to secure more wickets. The pacer’s ultimate goal is to achieve a five-wicket haul, making his debut even more memorable.
