England legend Alastair Cook made a witty remark while applauding Yashasvi Jaiswal’s batting performance in the third Test between India and England in Rajkot.
Yashasvi Jaiswal Registered His Second Double Century
Yashasvi Jaiswal shone with the bat as India secured a historic 434-run victory over England, claiming a 2-1 lead in the series. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s double century in Rajkot was a cricketing marvel. The young Indian batsman showcased exceptional skill and resilience, scoring his second consecutive double-century in Test cricket.
Jaiswal’s stellar performance propelled India to a commanding position against England, earning him recognition as only the third Indian to achieve this feat. Despite facing discomfort due to a back injury, Jaiswal’s determination and talent shone brightly, solidifying his status as a rising star in the world of cricket.
On day four, Jaiswal returned to bat and dominated England. He hit an impressive 12 sixes, including three in a row against James Anderson, setting a new record. This also makes him one of the players with the most sixes in a Test innings.
Alastair Cook Hailed Jaiswal In A Hilarious Manner
Speaking to TNT Sports, Alastair Cook hilariously praised Jaiswal. He said: “Yashasvi Jaiswal hit more sixes in an innings than I did in my entire career.”
Well, Cook’s observation rings true. Despite being one of England’s finest Test batsmen, with a career spanning 11,472 runs, he only managed 11 sixes. In contrast, Yashasvi Jaiswal surpassed that tally in a single innings, hitting 12 sixes.
Moreover, India’s dominant performance in the third Test set a new record with 28 sixes, the most in a Test match by any team. This victory also propelled India to lead the series after initially trailing.
