Arjun Tendulkar Scores A Hundred On His Ranji Trophy Debut

Young and talented Arjun Tendulkar finally made his debut in the Ranji Trophy for Goa in the Elite Group C match against Rajasthan at the Goa Cricket Association Academy Ground in Porvorim. And he has made a blockbuster start by emulating his father Sachin Tendulkar‘s footsteps, registering a stunning century in his Ranji Trophy Debut match for Goa. 

Arjun Tendulkar, who is a bowling all-rounder, had shifted to Goa after not getting enough chances to play for Mumbai, earlier this year. He has only played seven List A matches and nine T20s for Mumbai and Goa. After shifting his base to Goa, Arjun has now played all three formats for his new team. Arjun has also been a part of the Mumbai Indians squad in the Indian Premier League, however, he didn’t get a  chance to play. Mahela Jayawardene, the head coach of MI, said that Arjun needed to improve on certain aspects of his game in order to make it to the playing XI.

Arjun Tendulkar Registered A Stunning Century For Goa

Meanwhile, talking about his Ranji Trophy debut, Arjun showcased his batting skills for Goa and became the 2nd batsman from the line-up to score a stunning century. With a century on his Ranji Trophy debut. Interestingly, Sachin Tendulkar, who made his Ranji Trophy debut in December 1988, had also smashed a century on his debut for Mumbai against Gujarat in the 1987/88 season. 

Apart from Arjun, Goa’s Suyash Prabhudesai has also done well as he has also breached the 150-run mark. Suyash, who has played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL, is currently batting on 172 runs (at the time of writing this article. Arjun has already registered the best first-class of his career and is currently eyeing to breach the 200-run mark as well.

Talking about the game between Goa and Mumbai, all thanks to the centuries of Arjun and Suyash, Goa is currently in a strong position and has breached the 400-run mark on day 2. Goa is expected to declare the innings before the end of the day’s play.
