Ravichandran Ashwin Win A Big Honour In County Championship

Ravichandran Ashwin is, mostly, unplayable in Asian conditions where pitches support his style of bowling. In the last 4 years or so, he has troubled almost every batsmen of teams who toured India, with his tricky variations and astute line and length.

But, his biggest criticism has been regarding his inability to adjust in overseas conditions. Ashwin’s record at home is spectacular but his record in overseas conditions is below average.

However, to improve that in future, Ravichandran Ashwin, who was rested for the limited overs series against Sri Lanka, decided to play county cricket and get used to conditions in England.

Ashwin  signed a contract with Worcestershire County Cricket Club and made an impressive debut against Gloucestershire. He took 8 wickets in the match including a five-for in the second innings. He bowled 34 overs in the second innings and took 5 wickets for just 68 runs. It was a  brilliant spell of spin bowling in which mixed up his variations brilliantly and exerted pressure by bowling very tight lines.

For his brilliant debut, Ravichandran Ashwin was adjudged as the ‘Player of the Week’ in County Championship. A poll was conducted by County Championship on social media and most of the fans voted for Ravichandran Ashwin, and, as a result, he was announced as ‘Player of the Week’ by County Championship’s social media accounts.

“Wow, it came down to just a few votes, but your Div Two Player of the Week is @ashwinravi99! Probably due to deliveries like this,” official account of County Championship informed the fans through their Tweet.
