Ashwin Trolled A Twitter User For Bringing Up IPL 2019 ‘Mankading’

Last updated:

Ravichandran Ashwin is one of the most successful spinners in Indian cricket. However, he isn’t just famous for his cricketing skills and for his famous for his wicket-taking abilities. R Ashwin had stirred a major debate in the Indian cricketing fraternity when he had managed to Mankad Rajasthan Royals’ Jos Buttler during his time with Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2019 season.

And ever since then, there has been a debate going on over the same. Many While several cricketers are against the stance of running batsmen out before delivering the ball, however, Ashwin has been endorsing the Mankad vocally. Recently, he gave a hilarious reply to a user who had tried to take a dig at the veteran spinner by invoking the “Spirit of Cricket” in the never-ending Mankading debate.

Well, it all started after a Twitter user took a dig at R Ashwin for dismissing Jos Buttler in IPL 2019. The fan replied to a video showing Kapil Dev dismissing someone at the non-strikers’ end from a 1992 ODI game.

However, in his reply, the fan pointed out the difference between Ashwin and Kapil Dev’s actions. While, the fan called Kapil Dev’s move ‘fair’ as he had warned the non-striker and didn’t wait for him to leave the crease, on the other hand, the fan called Ashwin ‘unfair’ as he waited for Buttler to go out of the line, as per the fan. The fan wrote:

“Kapil has played it very fair…by warning Kirsten once and not claiming the first time. More importantly, he did it by NOT stopping and waiting for Kirsten to go out of the crease. This is in the true spirit. @ashwinravi99 @DineshKarthik @bhogleharsha @vijaylokapally @kartikmurali”

The tweet soon caught the eyes of Ashwin, who was quick to come up with a reply to it. In his reply, Ashwin roasted the fan by stating that he would take the latter’s approval before affecting the dismissal and he hopes that the Twitter user wouldn’t complain to his parents about it. He wrote:

I would do it again if a batsman goes out of the crease. I would also like to seek your permission to do the same cos if a bowler needs to run a batter out that way, he/she needs to premeditate the same and hopefully, you will approve of the same and not tell my parents about it,”
