The Reason Behind Axar Patel’s Injury Will Make Sunil Gavaskar Very Angry

The Reason Behind Axar Patel’s Injury Will Make Sunil Gavaskar Very Angry

These days, cricketers around the world play football during practice sessions and that is where Axar Patel injured his ankle. Patel was, on Saturday, ruled out of India’s first three ODIs against Australia, starting in Chennai on Sunday, after spraining his left ankle during practice session, and Ravindra Jadeja has been named in his place.

“The All-India Senior Selection Committee named Ravindra Jadeja as the replacement for Axar Patel in the team for the first three ODIs in the five-match series against Australia starting on Sunday i.e. September 17, 2017 in MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk in Chennai,” the BCCI said.

“Axar sprained his left ankle during a practice session and has been advised rest. The BCCI medical team is monitoring his recovery,” it added.

Former Indian captain and well-known cricket commentator Sunil Gavaskar has been a big critic of playing football during practice sessions. He believes that playing football can cause injuries because it is a very demanding game and players, sometimes, get too excited and injure themselves. He has time and again said that team shouldn’t play football during practice sessions, specially before matches.
