Why Is Cameron Green Not Playing Today’s India vs Australia 3rd ODI In Chennai? – Cameron Green missed the series-deciding ODI, the 3rd of the series, against India at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, also known as Chepauk, in Chennai, on Wednesday.
Steve Smith, the interim Aussie skipper for this series in the absence of Pat Cummins, won the toss and decided to bat first, asking India to bowl in the Chennai heat.
Smith announced two changes to the Australian XI from the 2nd ODI which they won in Visakhapatnam on Sunday.
Left-arm spinning all-rounder Ashton Agar and left-handed opener David Warner came into the side replacing seamer Nathan Ellis and all-rounder Cameron Green.

At the toss Smith said: “We are gonna have a bat. Looks like quite a dry surface, it is pretty hot out here. Will look to put a good total on this surface. We have had good fun and it will be exciting in the decider. We love playing in the crunch games and it’s exciting. It’s dry, so Ashton Agar is back. David Warner comes in for Cameron Green who is feeling a bit unwell, so there are changes.”
He scored 12 runs in the first ODI, in Mumbai, which India won and returned with bowling figures of 0/35 in 6 overs. In the 2nd ODI, where Australia registered a 10-wicket win, he shared the new ball with figures of 0/20 in 5 overs as the other Aussie pacers routed India.
All Rounder has had his work cut out on this India tour. After recovering from a finger injury, the 23-year-old played in the last two Tests of the 4-Test series, and then featured in the first 2 ODIs. With a long IPL season coming up, which will be followed immediately by the all-important WTC final and the Ashes series, Cameron Green’s workload will have to be carefully measured.
Cameron Green will play for Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2023
