Bhuvneshwar Kumar Reveals What Went Through His Mind When Hardik Pandya Got Hit

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was one of India’s star performers in the second ODI of the ongoing 5-match series against Australia. Bhuvi bowled brilliantly with the new ball and dismissed two top order batsmen in his first spell.

However, there was a moment in the game when Bhuvneshwar Kumar scared Indian cricket fans around the world, with his bat. Bhuvi played a cracking stroke which went straight towards his partner Hardik Pandya and hit him on the grill of his helmet. The way Bhuvi middled it and the manner in which Pandya went down made cricket fans around the world skip a heartbeat.

“I checked my bat just to reconfirm that it was indeed me who struck the ball with so much power. When he got hit, we were all worried. It looked like a serious blow, but thankfully he was alright. Once he was back on his feet, we began planning about building a partnership,” Bhuvneshwar told BCCI’s website bcci.tv.

When asked about his brilliant opening spell, Bhuvneshwar Kumar said that David Warner’s dismissal was a well planned one. Bhuvi has had success against Warner in Test cricket and he used the same plan to dismiss him in the second ODI.

“Yes, I planned. The first bowl I bowled I knew there is some swing on the wicket. Especially for David Warner, generally, I bowl outswingers to him in Tests also so I knew there is a good chance I can get him out. And for Cartwright, it was normal, top of off-stump for him,” Bhuvneshwar Kumar said.
