The defending champions Gujarat Titans have started the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League with a blockbuster win by defeating 4-time IPL champs Chennai Super Kings by 5 wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans needed 179 runs to win on a good batting wicket. Gujarat got off to an idle start with Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman giving a flying start to the side. However, Saha got out soon but the impact player, Sai Sudharshan did his job well to put on a 50-plus stand with Gill.
While wickets kept falling at the other end, but Gill kept on going before eventually getting dismissed on 63 runs. Vijay Shankar played a handy cameo and then in the last two overs of the game.
It was T20 sensational all-rounder Rashid Khan along with Rahul Tewatia, who scored the winning runs for the Gujarat side. Rashid and Rahul smashed back-to-back shots to take the side across the victory line. All thanks to the stellar cameos of Tewatia and Rashid, Gujarat won the game with 4 balls remaining.
Earlier in the game, CSK’s star opener Ruturaj Gaikwad stole the show with his batting heroics as he looked like a man on a mission as he effortlessly smashed maximums after maximums. Gaikwad received a bit of support from Moeen Ali after the first wicket fell, however, after that Gaikwad found it difficult to keep striking.
Eventually, Gaikwad was dismissed after scoring 92 runs and CSK ended their innings by posting 178 runs.
With the ball, Rashid Khan, Mohammad Shami, and Alzarri Joseph were really good as their efforts helped Gujarat to pull things back. Rashid also won the player of the match award for his all-round performance.
