Deepak Chahar Gave A Big Update About His Potential Comeback

The absence of star all-rounder Deepak Chahar was felt badly in the Chennai Super Kings camp in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League as the MS Dhoni-led side finished second last in the points table of the season.

Deepak Chahar was bought back by Chennai Super Kings for a whopping amount of INR 14 crore in the IPL 2022 mega-auction however he was forced to sit out of the competition due to an injury.

Deepak Chahar Was Ruled Out Of IPL 2022

Now with the T20 World Cup 2022 just around the corner, Chahar has brought up a sigh of relief among the Indian fans as he is expected to recover completely in the next four to five weeks.

For the unversed, Chahar had picked up a back injury during the West Indies’ tour of India earlier this year, which had prevented him to take part in IPL 2022. He is currently doing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru along with Washington Sundar and T Natarajan.

Chahar Gave Big Update About His Health

Meanwhile, according to a report by PTI, Chahar looked in good shape during the training session, where he confirmed that he is bowling four to five overs at one go without any discomfort. The seamer also confirmed the same by saying:

“I am bowling four to five overs at one go as per my rehab programme right now. My recovery is going pretty well and I think it will take another four to five weeks for me to get match fit,”

Further, Deepak Chahar admitted that he won’t be match ready during the upcoming T20Is against England, which will be played in July. He also said that he will be required to play in few club level games in order to assess his fitness. He said:

“It’s a step by step process as far as recovery is concerned. I don’t think I will be fit for England T20s. Once I am match fit, I will need to play some club level games to check my fitness,”

However, Deepak is optimistic about making a return during India’s tour of West Indies, where team India is scheduled to play y three ODIs and the same number of T20Is. The series is scheduled to be played from July 22 and August 7. Talking about which, he said: “I can’t say that but I will definitely try and get fit by then. Let’s see,”
