Deepti Sharma played a massive all-round part of help UP Warriorz defeat Mumbai Indians, consigning Harmanpreet Kaur’s side to their first defeat of the WPL 2023, on Saturday at DY Patil Stadium.
She made significant contributions with the ball, with the bat, and in the field, making two important run-outs, hitting the bulls-eye with her accurate, fast throws.
This was Mumbai’s first loss after winning their first 5 matches in the WPL 2023.
Deepti Sharma ran out Issy Wong, who scored 32 runs off 19 balls, and it was her presence of mind that was terrific.
Wong hit Deepti down the ground and set off for two runs. When Deepti got back the throw, she turned around quickly and aimed it at the striker’s end, knowing Wong be short a little of her crease while the non-striker would have made it. She hit the direct hit and Wong was dismissed.
Two balls later, she dismissed Saika Ishaque, again with a direct hit, again showing her sharp reflexes.
The broadcaster Sports 18 uploaded the video of the two run-outs inflicted by Deepti Sharma and fans can’t stop praising her for her efforts.

Left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone was once again sensational, returning with figures of 3/15, her wickets including the dangerous pair of Hayley Matthews and Nat Sciver-Brunt.
After the match Deepti Sharma said, “I knew with Sophie at the other end we can get over the line, so I just wanted to take it deep and finish. It was slightly better to bat than the first innings. Credit to the entire team. With the ball and then McGrath and Harris with the bat. We were focusing on the positives than the negatives and backing each other.”
