The number 1 ODI and T20I team, Team India, will look to complete the treble by becoming the number 1 Test team in the upcoming Test series against Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

India and Australia will square off in what promises to be an exciting and intensely-fought Test series.

This series is not only important from the ranking point of view, but a larger picture – the World Test Championship (WTC) final – is at stake for both the teams.

Australia are No. 1 ranked ICC Test team, India are at second position

With 126 rating points, Pat Cummins’ team are currently holding the number uno position in the ICC men’s Test team ranking, followed by Rohit Sharma’s Team India who have 115 rating points.

How can India become number 1 Test team?

To reach the No. 1 ICC Test team ranking, India will have to beat Australia by a margin of 2 Test match wins.

This means that results of 2-0, 3-1, 3-0, or 4-0 in India’s favor will see India climb to the summit position and topple Australia from there.

If it happens, it will be the first time in the history of Indian cricket that the team is ranked number in ICC rankings in all three formats.
