“Never Seen Anyone Like Virat Kohli”: Faf du Plessis On Kohli’s Mindset

The RCB captain Faf du Plessis had heaped rich praises on the mindset of Virat Kohli following his brilliant form in the ongoing World Cup 2023. The former South African skipper has been playing alongside Virat Kohl in the IPL for RCB over the past two seasons and has observed the Indian mega-star up close.

Faf du Plessis is currently doing commentary for Star Sports in the World Cup in India and gushed in praise for Virat Kohli’s mindset.

Faf was with Kohli when the latter was going through a struggling period in 2021 and 2022, but Kohli fought that period with his mental strength and bounced back to great form last year, and has been unstoppable since.

Speaking on Star Sports, Faf du Plessis hailed Kohli’s mental strength, saying that he hasn’t seen anyone with a stronger mental power than that of Kohli.

“I have never seen anyone else that has a stronger mindset than Virat Kohli in the game,” Faf said.

As Virat Kohli aced another chase in the World Cup, Faf also claimed that Kohli is the greatest run-chaser in the history of the game.

Kohli scored 85 runs against Australia, 55* against Afghanistan, 103* against Bangladesh, and 95 against New Zealand. While the Afghanistan and Bangladesh chases were comfortable, Kohli stepped up in tricky run-chases against Australia and New Zealand.

Faf Du Plessis said, “Virat Kohli is the best chaser in cricket history.”

Talking more about Kohli’s sensational record in run-chases, he has the second-most runs in run-chases in ODIs – 7794 runs, only behind Sachin Tendulkar’s tally of 8720 runs. But Kohli’s average of 65 is miles ahead of Tendulkar’s 42 in run-chases, and Kohli has 27 centuries to Tendulkar’s 17.

Coming to his record in winning run-chases, Kohli surpasses everyone. He’s the leading ODI run-scorer in winning run-chases with 5786 runs at an average of 90 – simply insane – with 23 hundreds.
