Young India Test batsman Sarfaraz Khan got trolled on Twitter for his statement comparing Rohit Sharma’s captaincy style with that of Aamir Khan in the famous movie Lagaan.
Sarfaraz Khan made his Test debut recently in the home series against England. The 26-year-old Mumbai batsman played a role in helping India win the series 4-1 after the hosts were 0-1 down. The right-hander cracked three impressive half-centuries in three Tests; he entered the list of batters with twin fifty-plus scores on his Test debut.
Ahead of the start of the IPL 2024 season, Sarfaraz appeared on a show for Sports Tak with Dhruv Jurel, another youngster who performed superbly in his debut Test series against England.
In the show, he was asked about Rohit Sharma’s captaincy style and demeanour. Sarfaraz Khan said Rohit’s leadership reminded him of Aamir Khan’s leadership in the Lagaan movie.
Sarfaraz told Sports Tak: “I had a lot of fun while playing with Rohit bhai. I’ve been playing cricket for a long time now, played in the IPL for 9-10 years and I play domestic as well. But I had a lot of fun by playing Rohit Bhai.”
“It feels as if, whenever I see him I feel very good and love flows from my heart, he is such an amazing personality who likes to go forward with everyone. Whenever he says something to the team, you must have seen the movie Lagaan where Aamir Khan makes a team. So whenever I see him, I get reminded of the Lagaan movie.”
While this was Sarfaraz’s way of trying to explain what it felt like being led by Rohit Sharma, the youngster got a bit of trolling on Twitter for his comments about the skipper.

Meanwhile, with his aggressive style of batting, Sarfaraz Khan has made a strong claim to be in India’s first-choice XI even when Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant are available.
Rohit will next be seen in the IPL 2024, but not as a captain anymore.
