Soon after officially getting the clearance from the BCCI to play in the IPL 2024, Rishabh Pant gave a hilarious reply to a fan’s sarcastic tweet, asking the Delhi cricketer to drive a car again.
On Tuesday, 10 days out from the start of the IPL 2024 season, Rishabh Pant, the Delhi Capitals skipper, got the green signal from the BCCI to play in the tournament as a wicket-keeper batsman.
The BCCI said in a statement, “After undergoing an extensive 14-month rehab and recovery process, following a life-threatening road mishap on December 30th, 2022, near Roorkee, Uttarakhand, Rishabh Pant has now been declared fit as a wicket-keeper batter for the upcoming TATA IPL 2024.”
The Delhi Capitals, Pant’s IPL franchise, posted a poster of the 26-year-old in DC jersey and captioned it “Ready to ROAR Welcome back, Rishabh Pant. Can’t wait to see you”
In the poster, the Capitals wrote, “TIGER RETURNS”
One fan didn’t like the poster and made a funny tweet, “Isse achha me banake de deta bhai , ye dekh kr wapis car chalane chal jayega wo (I would have made a better poster than this; after seeing this Pant will want to drive a car again”
This funny tweet went viral and it caught the attention of Rishabh Pant, who commented with two laughing emojis.

If Rishabh Pant can play the T20 World Cup for us, that will be a big thing for us: Jay Shah
A day before the BCCI’s official confirmation, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah not only hinted at Pant’s fitness clearance but also that the 26-year-old could be in line for a direct comeback in India’s T20 World Cup squad if he could don the gloves in the IPL.
“He is batting well, he is keeping well. We will declare him fit very soon,” Jay Shah told PTI. “If he can play the T20 World Cup for us, that will be a big thing for us. He is a big asset for us. If he can keep, he can play the World Cup. Let’s see how he does in the IPL.”
The Delhi Capitals’ first match of the season is on March 23, against Punjab Kings in Mohali.
