MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina are the ‘Jai–Veeru‘ of the cricket world. Both the cricketers share a great camaraderie with each other and their friendship is something that is hard to find these days. The duo wore the same colors and shared the same dressing room for the majority of their career, be it playing for the Indian cricket team or franchise cricket.

MS and Raina began their international career around the same time and ended it on exactly the same date — 15th August 2020. While everyone was expecting Dhoni’s retirement, but nobody saw Raina’s retirement coming. His decision of following the footsteps of his mentor and friend and announcing his retirement at the age of 33, left everyone shocked.

Now, Suresh Raina has once again managed to surprise everyone with his latest statements on his IPL career.

MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina have been like pillars of CSK since the inception of IPL in 2008. Recently, in an interview, Raina made a big statement by saying that he will also retire if Dhoni doesn’t feature in the next year’s Indian Premier League. Yes, you read that right.

Talking to News 24 Sports, Raina said: “I have four-five years left in me. We have the IPL this year, and then two more teams next year. But I think I’ll play only for CSK till I play. I hope we do well this year,”

He also said that he will try to convince Dhoni to play a few more seasons but if Dhoni decides to retire, Raina will follow his foot-steps. He said:

“If Dhoni bhai doesn’t play next season, I too won’t play. We’ve been playing since 2008 (for CSK)… if we win this year then I’ll convince him to play next year too, I’ll try my best. If he will not play, then I don’t think I will play for any IPL team,”
