GT vs DC: Table-toppers Gujarat Titans are hosting the bottom-placed Delhi Capitals in match number 44 of the ongoing 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Delhi Capitals is in a do-or-die situation, with six losses from eight games. They will probably need to win all of their remaining six games in order to make it to the IPL play-offs but considering their current form, it looks highly unlikely.
DC also lost their previous game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad by nine runs, highlighting the need for a better game plan.
On the other hand, Gujarat Titans, the defending champions Titans remain the team to beat this season. They are sitting at the top of the IPL 2023 points table with six wins off eight games.
DC Won The Toss And Opted To Bat First
David Warner won the toss and opted to bat first. Speaking at the toss, Warner revealed the changes in the team with Mitch Marsh missing due to injury. He said:
“We will bat first. Nice wicket, looks a bit dry. Want to put runs on the board. We have to come out positive, we got some young talent and hopefully, they all will get to showcase it tonight. Unfortunately, Mitch Marsh is sick, so Rilee Rossouw comes in for him. Khaleel has recovered from the niggle and he is back as well.”
Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya talked about being fine with bowling first as that was his plan as well. He also talked about his team’s form and the importance of winning the match as his team edge closer to the playoffs. He said:
“We were planning to bowl as well, thought chasing would be an ideal thing here. We spoke earlier about the kind of intent we keep and bowling wise we have been fantastic and want to stay calm and humble. We are playing the same team.”
