Harsha Bhogle Reacts After Quinton de Kock Was Dropped From SA vs WI Clash: Fans witnessed a big step being taken by ICC and all the cricket boards in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021 by showing their support to the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement. Several countries have shown have taken a knee to support and commend their support to the movement.
Recently, in the India vs Pakistan clash, the Indian cricket team took a knee to show their support to the BLM movement, while we saw the Pakistan players keep their hands on their hearts to show their support.
However, the topic is slightly tricky when it comes to the South African cricket team. Most of the players of the South African team have shown their support to the movement by taking a knee in several matches before, excluding Quinton de Kock.
Infact, in the ongoing match against West Indies, Quinton de Kock pulled out of South Africa’s squad in the wake of CSA’s board saying they had “unanimously agreed to issue a directive” that all players should take a knee before matches. The board’s decision has brought tensions in the team as last year the team had given themselves three options to show their support for the fight for social justice – kneel, raise a fist, or stand to attention.
But de Kock has been the exception from the side opting to stand with his hands slung casually behind his back, not adapting any gesture to show his support. Speaking at an online press conference on June 12 this year, de Kock had refused to explain his reason. He had said:
“My reason? I’ll keep it to myself. It’s my own, personal opinion. It’s everyone’s decision; no-one’s forced to do anything, not in life. That’s the way I see things.”
Meanwhile, de Kock opting to pull out of the ongoing match has caught everyone’s attention and has become one of the most discussed topics on social media.
Indian commentator and analyst Harsha Bhogle also took to his Twitter and expressed his thoughts on the matter. He wrote:
“I fear we haven’t heard the last of the de Kock issue. I won’t be surprised if we don’t see him in a Protea shirt again.”

At this point in time, it is unclear if the wicketkeeper batter, who is an important member of his side will continue this campaign or not.
