Here’s How Rohit Sharma Planned Moeen Ali’s Dismissal

Here’s How Rohit Sharma Planned Moeen Ali’s Dismissal: India registered back-to-back wins over England to seal the three-T20I series with one game to go as on Saturday, the visitors came out trumps with 49 runs in Edgbaston, two days after a 50-run victory in Southampton.

India’s total of 170 proved too much for the hosts and they were bowled out for 121 with still three overs to go. This also meant that India have now won their last 14 T20Is under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy and have a positive progress as the T20 World Cup nears.

Rohit Sharma, the five-time IPL winning skipper, is yet to lose a T20I match as India’s captain this year. His elite captaincy and shrewdness was on show when he devised a strong plan to get rid of Moeen Ali, who was still putting up a fight with some big hits to the boundary line.

Rohit Sharma continued his winning juggernaut

One the first ball of the 15th over, the game yet not sealed by India, Ali smoked Hardik Pandya’s hard length ball that didn’t rise much for a maximum, just clearing the deep mid-wicket fielder. This kept England in the hunt.

Captain Rohit Sharma promptly went to Hardik for a chat and suggested the seamer bowl a slower and fuller delivery. Hardik obeyed his skipper, and alas- it resulted in Ali’s wicket on the very next delivery.

Rohit placed himself at mid-off. As told by his captain, Pandya bowled outside Ali’s off-stump with drop in pace and went full. Looking to clear Sharma at mid-off, Ali hit it down straight to Sharma, who had a smile on his face as the plan worked to the tee.

Fans on Twitter were in awe of this plan and admired Rohit Sharma for his tactical genius and calmness.

Here are some of the reactions:

Rohit Sharma was effusive in praise for his team as they won another T20I series.

“I think we all know how good they are as a team, wherever they go, not just in England. We were upto the challenge and were clinical in what we wanted to do and were clinical with the bat and the ball. When you win games it’s always nice. You feel confident and there’s a lot of confidence amongst the group as well, which is very important. We just want to continue and focus on what lies ahead for us. I really wanted to see how we perform after a win and we really want to keep challenging ourselves as a group,” the Indian skipper said.
