Well, the entire episode of fitness and injury of Rohit Sharma took an ugly turn after the Indian skipper, Virat Kohli expressed his disappointment over the matter and claimed that he had absolutely no clarity over the fitness of Rohit Sharma.
Virat had said that he was expecting that Rohit Sharma will board the flight to Australia from the UAE with the entire squad after the just concluded edition of the IPL. He also revealed that he had no information about Rohit not being there on the flight to Australia. He had said:
“Before the selection meeting, we got a mail that he is unavailable, that he has picked up an injury during the IPL. It said that the pros and cons of the injury were explained to him and he understood and he was unavailable.
After that he played in the IPL and we all thought he would be on that flight to Australia and we had no information on why he is not travelling with us. There has been no information, there has been a lack of clarity. We have been playing the waiting game,”
Now as per a report by Mumbai Mirror, the BCCI didn’t take long to clear the air between Rohit Sharma and the team. The report revealed that the board arranged for the conference call soon after Kohli’s virtual press conference. Along with Virat and Rohit, Indian head coach Ravi Shastri, Chief Selector Sunil Joshi, and those involved in the fitness assessment of Rohit at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore also joined the conference call.
Following the call, it was revealed that the team management and other parties involved at the conference call decided that the final call will be taken after Rohit’s fitness assessment on December 11.
