The final clash of the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League was washed out because of heavy rain at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 28 and was subsequently shifted to Reserve Day, i.e, Monday, 29th.
While the fans hoped and pray for the rain to stop last night, the IPL presenters made every effort possible to keep the fans entertained.
AB de Villiers Is Very Impressed With This Young Opener
Amidst this, the expert panel including the likes of AB de Villiers, Anil Kumble, Scott Styris, and others played an interesting segment, where they named the player by whom they were impressed the most. While most of the experts and former cricketers named Gill for his sensational run in the ongoing tournament, however, South Africa’s batting legend Jaiswal named a different player.
Shubman Gill has impressed one and all with his blockbuster performance throughout the ongoing 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League. With three centuries to his name, Shubman has made a special place in everyone’s hearts. He became the second Indian player after Virat Kohli to breach the 800 runs mark in an IPL season.
However, de Villiers has named another young Indian opener who has impressed him the most. de Villiers is very impressed with Yashasvi Jaiswal, who amassed 625 runs this season. He ended the season as the highest run-getter for Rajasthan Royals. Yashasvi played several crucial and match-winning knocks for his side in the ongoing tournament. His tally also included a century.
“Yashasvi Jaiswal has impressed me the most and has been the best young batter by a long margin. He is young and has all the shots. Shubman is a bit older, but Jaiswal is just 21 and has a long way to go.”
