Here’s Why Moeen Ali Wants Virat Kohli To Lead India In The 5th Test: Who will lead the Indian cricket team in the much-awaited 5th Test match at Edgbaston against England? Well, this has become one of the hot topics of discussion, with several Indian cricket fans and pundits coming up with their opinions on the same.

Recently, Rohit Sharma was Tested positive for COVID-19, and with KL Rahul nursing an injury in Germany, Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant emerged out as the two captaincy options. However, there are many who want to see Virat Kohli finishing the job and donning the Indian blazer for one last time.

Meanwhile, England’s star all-rounder Moeen Ali was asked about India’s captaincy conundrum with Rohit Sharma racing against time to get it after Testing positive for COVID-19. Moeen Ali feels that the cap should be handed over to Virat Kohli. Speaking to Sports Today, Moeen Ali said:

“It’s a tough one. I was thinking about this last night. Because Virat was captain before of the same series last year, I would probably give it to him, yeah, for this one game. But it’s obviously his call,”

He also admitted that Virat isn’t is probably not in the frame of mind to take up the job again. He said: “He probably won’t want to do it. He is happy, his mind is relaxed and saying ‘I’m never captaining Test cricket again’. So that can be also difficult but yeah, I think it’s a good idea. He has got the experience and it’s a big series for India,”

Though, BCCI is yet to announce the big news, but as per the latest report by ANI, Rohit Sharma will miss the fifth test starting July 1, and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will lead the Indian team for the first time in his career. “He [Bumrah] has been informed about this in the team meeting,” ANI stated. Also, BCCI has called Mayank Agarwal as a backup option for Rohit Sharma.
