"I Never Though.." - Virat Kohli Hailed Rohit Sharma's Journey In Team India

Virat Kohli recently shared his thoughts on his partnership with skipper Rohit Sharma in the Indian National Cricket Team. He mentioned witnessing Rohit’s progress as an opening batter and praised the remarkable contributions he’s made to the team.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are like the backbone of the Indian Cricket Team in all types of matches. They’ve played amazingly well over the years, helping India excel in all formats of the game. Rohit and Kohli both started their careers around 2007-08 as young players and now, 15 years later, they’re considered two of the best batters in the world. They’ve achieved so much together that it’s hard to find a record book without their names in it.

Virat Kohli Hailed Rohit Sharma’s Journey In Team India

Even as Rohit Sharma takes on the role of captaincy for the Indian Cricket Team, Virat Kohli remains the team’s top batter. Despite being in their late 30s, their dedication and effort are truly admirable. They continue to perform at their peak, displaying the vigor and skill of much younger players, a testament to their enduring commitment to the national cricket team.

Virat Kohli recently reflected on his 15-year journey in cricket, emphasizing the importance of recognizing the platform young players have and respecting the time they spend playing. Alongside Rohit Sharma, he encourages young cricketers to appreciate the opportunities they’re given and make the most of their time on the field.  Speaking during the Asian Paints event, he said:

“So today if someone asks me how have you played for 15 years, mujhe lagta hi nahi hai ki 15 saal ho gaye kyunki jo aapka perspective pehle din tha, looking this as an opportunity, wo aaj bhi hai. Jab tak aap kheloge, tab tak rahegaa.

“That’s how we have grown up. That’s what we discuss and tell youngsters to recognize the platform and opportunity you are getting and give full respect, wherever you play.”

Virat Kohli continued to praise his journey alongside Rohit Sharma, describing it as remarkable. He highlighted witnessing Rohit’s growth from a young player to leading the Indian team and remarked that his career has evolved alongside Rohit’s journey. He said:

“We have played together for 15 years and I never thought in the beginning that me and Rohit Sharma would be the last few senior players in the team. It’s been a great journey. I have seen Rohit Sharma’s growth as a player and what he has done in his career and now how he is leading the Indian team, it has been amazing. My career has grown alongside as well and it’s been great for India in general.”

Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are actively participating in the Indian Premier League. Their teams, Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore, are scheduled to face each other on Thursday, April 11th, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Both players have shown good form with the bat during the league matches, setting the stage for an exciting showdown between the two cricketing giants.
