IPL 2024: “Sixth Name To The Fast Bowling Contracts…” – Ian Bishop Backed Mayank Yadav To Play For India In T20 World Cup 2024

Following Mayank Yadav’s stellar debut in IPL 2024, former West Indies cricketer Ian Bishop has called on the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to include him in the roster of players with fast bowling contracts. Bishop’s remarks come in light of Yadav’s impressive performance in the tournament.

Playing for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Yadav impressed everyone with his fast bowling in his first game against Punjab Kings. The 23-year-old consistently bowled at speeds of over 150 kilometers per hour (KMPH), which stunned the opposing batters. His ability to bowl at such high speeds has made him one of the most talked-about young players in IPL 2024.

Mayank Yadav has taken 6 wickets in 2 games. He received the Player of the Match (POTM) award in both games for his 3-wicket hauls. His performances helped LSG defend their totals against Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

Former Caribbean pacer Ian Bishop praised Mayank Yadav’s performance in IPL 2024 on Twitter. In one tweet, he applauded Yadav’s stunning show, while in another, he urged the BCCI to grant him a fast bowler’s contract. He wrote:

“This Mayank Kid bowling like a child of the wind….pphhoofff”.

“Nothing else needs to be seen to add a sixth name to the fast bowling contracts list.”

So far, the BCCI has awarded fast bowler contracts to five Indian bowlers: Akash Deep, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Umran Malik, Yash Dayal, and Vidwath Kaverappa. However, if Mayank Yadav maintains his impressive performances in IPL 2024, he could potentially earn a fast bowler contract with the BCCI in the future.

In the previous match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) put up an impressive performance. Opting to bat first, Quinton de Kock provided a strong start with his 81 runs off 56 balls. Marcus Stoinis contributed 24 runs before being dismissed.

Nicholas Pooran‘s quickfire innings of 40 runs off 21 balls in the later overs helped LSG set a formidable total. Although some LSG batters fell cheaply early in the innings, de Kock and Pooran’s outstanding performances ensured a competitive score in the IPL 2024 clash.
