Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum’s Bazballers have arrived in India with the aim of repeating the heroics of Alastair Cook’s team in 2012. It has been a little over 11 years since India lost a Test series at home, winning 16 consecutive series, and losing only 3 Test matches in this period.

India are the team to beat at home. While India’s spinners give nightmares to the visiting batters, India’s pacers, too, have been significantly better than the opposition pacers.

Since 2012, England have toured India twice, losing both times, and India, too, have lost two Test series in England, but drew the last one which spanned across 2021/22.

In this article, we will look at India’s Top 5 test wicket takers against England since 2011.

IND vs ENG: India’s Top 5 Test Wicket Takers Against England Since 2011

Ravichandran Ashwin – 88

R Ashwin

As expected, R Ashwin is at the top of the list in India’s wicket-takers against England since 2011. The wily off-spinner has scalped 88 wickets in 19 Tests at an average of 28 with 6 five-wicket hauls. It goes without saying that all of those six five-fors came at home. Ashwin had a thunderous series the last time England came visiting in 2021, when he took 32 wickets at an average of only 14.

Ishant Sharma – 61 wickets

Ishant Sharma had been India’s workhorse bowler for a long period of time, bowling dry spells from one end. He, though, also had good success against England in England. Overall, since 2011 in 21 Tests against the Three Lions, Ishant took 61 wickets at an average of 33.

Ravindra Jadeja – 51 wickets

In 16 Tests against England, Jadeja picked up 51 wickets at an average of 35, an average which he would be looking to better in the upcoming series. He missed the 2021 home series due to injury.

Mohammed Shami – 44 wickets

Shami has taken 44 scalps in 15 Tests against England at an average of 38. This average belies Shami’s bad luck against England, both on the 2018 and 2021 tours. He will miss out on the upcoming series due to an ankle injury.

Jasprit Bumrah – 41 wickets

Jasprit Bumrah

Bumrah has simply been sensational in his Test career. In 10 Tests against England, he has 41 wickets under his belt at an impressive average of 24 with two five-hauls, both in Nottingham.
