3 Biggest Points Made By India’s Chief Selector Press Conference
Why no Prithvi Shaw in any team?
When asked about Prithvi Shaw’s non-selection in any of the four squads, Chetan Sharma said: “We are basically loooking for Prithvi (Shaw). We are in constant touch with Prithvi. He is going well. He is doing nothing wrong at alll. The thing is that we have to see whether the guys who are playing are also getting their chances. He will definitely get his chance. Selectors are in constant touch with Prithvi. He will get his chances very soon,”
Is Dinesh Karthik in the scheme of things?
Chetan Sharma was asked about Dinesh Karthik’s future with the Indian cricket team after T20 World Cup 2022. He answered:
“We look mainly at the load management to see which player should be given rest or not. Dinesh Karthik… the way he came in the side, the way he performed. He is always available for the selectors. It is just that we are thinking to try a different set of players after T20 World Cup. Otherwise, doors are open for him. He is a great player,”
Here is what Chetan Sharma said on Jasprit Bumrah:
Speaking about Jasprit Bumrah’s return from injury, Chetan Sharma said: “I say it every time that we have to manage the players and when we do that, the media ends up writing about how different players are playing in the lineup with different captains. We have to manage the workload. We hurried up Jasprit Bumrah a bit, we tried as the World Cup was coming and see what happened. We are without Jasprit Bumrah for this World Cup,”
