Former Indian batting superstar Suresh Raina might not be playing for Chennai Super Kings in the ongoing IPL 2022, however, he still misses being in that CSK camp and dugout. And as Chennai Super Kings takes on Kolkata Knight Riders in the first opening clash at the Wankhede Stadium, Raina is not with the team on-field but in the TV studio, making his commentary debut.
Well, Suresh Raina, one of the league’s finest players in history, who is popularly called ‘Mr. IPL’, went unsold at the auction, for the first time since the league’s inception in 2008. Despite the plethora of experience and records under his name, none of the 10 IPL teams bid for the legendary IPL player. However, a month after the auction, Star Sports announced he will join the Hindi commentary team of the broadcaster for the ongoing season.
While he is not with his yellow-army on-field but his loyalty for CSK will always remain. Speaking on the live broadcast ahead of the ongoing Chennai Super Kings vs Kolkata Knight Riders game, the former CSK superstar expressed his desire to wear the Chennai jersey.
Speaking on Star Sports’ live broadcast, Raina made an emotional statement as he admitted that while passing the stadium before coming on the show, he wished he could have worn CSK’s jersey and entered the stadium. He said:
“As soon I passed the stadium coming on the show, I was wishing that I can quietly wear the yellow jersey and enter the stadium,”
The video of the same has been going viral on the internet and has left the fans in awe of the former CSK superstar. Here, watch the video:
