The Kolkata Knight Riders are currently sitting at the 8th position in the points table of the IPL 2023. In the absence of Shreyas Iyer, the 2-time IPL winners haven’t had a good tournament so far. And with 8 points in 10 games, they are all but out of the playoff race.

They need to win at least 3 matches of the remaining 4 and still that perhaps wouldn’t be enough to see them into the top 4.

While there have been a few top performers for KKR such as Gurbaz, Rinku Singh, Chakravarthy and skipper Nitish Rana, a few have been disappointing.

Here are 3 major flops of KKR in IPL 2023:

Umesh Yadav

Umesh Yadav

KKR would have been disappointed the most with Umesh Yadav’s poor show in Indian Premier League 2023. The senior India pacer had been in good rhythm during the Test series against Australia, but barely managed to pose any threat in the Indian Premier League 2023.

Such was the state of Yadav’s performances, that he bowled only 19 overs across 8 matches, out of the 32 possible he could have bowled. Umesh picked up only 1 wickets and leaked at close to 10 runs an over before being dropped and sidelined due to a hamstring injury.

Sunil Narine

KKR would have expected a lot more from Sunil Narine, but the veteran spinner hasn’t really gotten into wickets this season. In 11 matches, Narine has managed 7 wickets – 3 out of which came in a single game – a day match vs Gujarat. His economy of 8.6 is the worst he’s managed in any IPL season.

Narayan Jagadeesan

There would have been some expectations by the KKR management from N Jagadeesan after his bumper Vijay Hazare Trophy. However, the Tamil Nadu keeper-batter couldn’t live up to the demands of the IPL and was dropped mid-way through the season. Jagadeesan featured in 6 matches at the top of the order scoring 89 runs at a strike rate of 109.
