KRR wicket-keeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz on Monday night took a difficult catch of Punjab Kings opener Prabhsimran Singh. This juggling take from Gurbaz reminded fans of one similar catch that MS Dhoni back in IPL 2020 against KKR.
Fast bowler Harshit Rana bowled a brilliant back-of-length delivery angling into Prabhsimran Singh who wanted to flick it away on the leg side. However, the batter was through his shot a bit early and managed an outside edge that flew to the right and at shoulder height of KKR WK.
The wicket-keeper got his gloves on the ball but palmed it in the air again and behind him. Gurbaz was, though, alert and kept his eyes on the ball and ran behind to grab it. He had to put in a dive to complete this terrific catch.
This was very much similar to the one Mahendra Singh Dhoni had taken to dismiss KKR’s Shivam Mavi in the IPL 2020.

Mavi had tried to slog a slower ball from Dwayne Bravo but managed a thick outside edge which flew to the right of Dhoni. Unlike Gurbaz, Mahendra Singh Dhoni only went with his right hand and the ball deflected off his hand. But Dhoni, despite ageing, was sharp and quickly retraced back and put in a stunning dive to manage to hold on to the catch.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Kings have amassed 179 on a Eden Gardens pitch that is assisting the spinners very much and this might prove to be just enough for Shikhar Dhawan’s side to take two points.
While Varun Chakravarthy spun a web to return with figures of 3/26, the PBKS batters pounded against others. Dhawan scored another IPL fifty and others played quickfire cameos.
