CSK registered their fourth win of IPL 2024 with a splendid performance with both bat and ball at the Wankhede Stadium. Despite a shaky start with the bat, they were asked to bat first and managed to post a significant total on the scoreboard.
Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad (69) and Shivam Dube (66) played brilliantly, steering Chennai Super Kings to a commanding position in the middle overs with a partnership of 90 runs for the third wicket. MS Dhoni’s quickfire cameo of 20 runs off just 4 balls further bolstered their total to 206 runs at the Wankhede Stadium.
Mumbai Indians’ skipper Hardik Pandya stood out among the bowlers with figures of 2/43, while Shreyas Gopal and Gerald Coetzee also contributed with one wicket each.
Mumbai Indians got off to a flying start with Ishan Kishan (23) and Rohit Sharma (105*) leading the charge. However, after Kishan’s dismissal, they struggled to maintain momentum. Tilak Varma (31) showed promise but couldn’t capitalize.
Skipper Rohit Sharma’s unbeaten 105 was a valiant effort, but lacking support from the other end, Mumbai Indians fell short in their chase. They finished with 186 runs, losing the game by 20 runs.
