Sarfaraz Khan is reportedly all set to join the Kolkata Knight Riders for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024).
The right-handed batsman, Sarfaraz Khan, was unexpectedly not bought in the auction held last December. Earlier, he was released by the Delhi Capitals after a disappointing performance in IPL 2023, where he only scored 53 runs in four matches. Despite his batting skills, no franchises showed interest in bidding for him in the auction.
Sarfaraz Khan All Set To Join KKR After Impressive Test Debut
Well, things are expected to turn around for Mumbai’s Sarfaraz Khan after his impressive debut for the Indian Test team. He made a remarkable start to his international career by scoring half-centuries in both innings of the recent Rajkot Test against England. In the first innings, he scored 62 runs off just 66 balls, and in the second innings, he remained unbeaten on 68 runs off 72 balls.
Following his promising Test debut, Kolkata Knight Riders, the two-time IPL champions, are reportedly keen on acquiring Sarfaraz Khan for IPL 2024. As per a report in the Bengali daily Anandabazar Patrika, KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir has advocated for signing the batsman, emphasizing the need to bolster the team’s batting lineup.
Despite performing admirably in domestic and international cricket, Sarfaraz Khan has struggled to leave a mark in the IPL. Representing various teams like Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, and Delhi Capitals, he has amassed only 585 runs in 50 matches throughout his IPL career.
