Gavaskar is eager to witness Rahmanullah Gurbaz included in the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) playing XI as one of the foreign players for IPL 2024. He emphasizes Gurbaz’s aggressive batting style, which he believes could greatly enhance the team’s performance in the tournament. Gavaskar sees Gurbaz as a potential game-changer and anticipates his dynamic approach to positively influence KKR’s campaign.

Speaking on the Star Sports’ show, Gavaskar said: “I have liked Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s batting a lot based on whatever I have seen. He is extremely aggressive, and his batting is like a slight copy of MS Dhoni. That is why I probably like it.”

Gavaskar was struck by Gurbaz’s humility and modesty, which shone through in a touching incident off the cricket field during the 2023 ODI World Cup held in India. He signed off by saying:

“When the World Cup ended, after that, the job he did, he gave money to the people sleeping on the footpath. For doing that, he has to definitely be in the team for me.”

Mitchell Starc, the IPL’s highest-paid player, is likely to join Andre Russell and Sunil Narine as the three consistent overseas players in KKR’s playing XI for the entire upcoming season.
