Chris Gayle, who was just recently inducted into the Royal Challengers Bangalore ‘Hall of Fame,’ ranks fifth on that illustrious list. Gayle made his debut in 2022 with the Punjab Kings against the Mumbai Indians at the ripe old age of 42 years, 7 months, and 7 days. Gayle is currently commentating on IPL 2023 for JioTV, where his Caribbean humour and insightful analysis are appreciated by cricket fans all over the world.
Imran Tahir
Imran Tahir, who will serve as a commentator for IPL 2023, is fourth on the list. Tahir was a member of the 2021 champion Chennai Super Kings squad despite being 42 years old and 29 days. But he didn’t even suit up for a single contest. Tahir’s exceptional leg-spin bowling and out-of-this-world celebrations have made him a fan favourite among Indian cricket followers.
Muttiah Muralitharan
Third on the list is Muttiah Muralitharan, formerly of Sri Lanka but now a member of the coaching staff for SunRisers Hyderabad.
Muralitharan’s final IPL game for RCB was in 2019, when he was 42 years old and 35 days.
Murali has taken more wickets than any other cricketer in Test history, making him a legend in the sport.
Praveen Tambe
When Pravin Tambe made his Indian Premier League debut for the Rajasthan Royals in 2013, he was the oldest player to do so. Tambe, the second-oldest player on the list at 44 years and 219 days, played his final game in 2016 for the disbanded Gujarat Lions. Brad Hogg
