Former India cricketers Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan have lashed out at the ‘seasonal’ cricket fans for their misbehavior on social media after the Indian cricket team was defeated by Pakistan by 10 wickets on Sunday in Dubai. This was for the first time in the history of this game that Pakistan was able to defeat India in any World Cup event. India’s winning streak of 12-0 was broken last night by Pakistan.
However, ever since the defeat India’s fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been subjected to terrible abuse on social media. Pakistan finished the game in the 18th overs bowled by Mohammad Shami as the Babar Azam-led side chased down the target of 152 runs with ease at the Dubai International Stadium.
After the game, Shami was on the receiving end of flak from fans on social media. ‘Seasonal’ fans flooded Shami’s social media handles with distasteful comments and threats.
Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer and world cup hero Irfan Pathan took to his social media and made a strong statement in support of Shami. In his Tweet, Irfan Pathan said that he too played in several games for India against Pakistan in which his team lost the game but he never had to face such reactions from the fans. He wrote:
“Even I was part of #IndvsPak battles on the field where we have lost but never been told to go to Pakistan! I’m talking about ?? of few years back. THIS CRAP NEEDS TO STOP.”

Soon, Irfan’s brother and former Indian cricketer Yusuf Pathan also took to his Twitter and echoed the same sentiments. In his tweet, he extended his support towards the Indian players and wrote:
