India’s stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah registered a world record on Saturday, with the BAT. Yes, Jasprit Bumrah, the batter, was seen in carnage mode as he smashed England’s pacer Stuart Broad for a stunning 35-run over on Day 2 of the ongoing rescheduled 5th Test match against England in Birmingham.

Jasprit Bumrah Registered A World Record

Bumrah smashed Stuart Broad to all the corners of the ground to create a world record for maximum runs off a single over in Test cricket, surpassing the legendary Brian Lara’s record by one run. Brian Lara held this record for 18 years before it was shattered by the bowling sensation.

Lara had hit South African left-arm spinner Robin Peterson for 28 runs in a Test match in 2003-04. His knock included four fours and two sixes off six legal deliveries.

Cut to the present, Stuart Broad, who was once hit for six sixes in an over by the Indian world cup hero Yuvraj Singh in the inaugural World T20 in 2007, once again found himself at the receiving end of the batting carnage of an Indian player. He gave away 35 runs in the 84th over of the Indian first innings in the final Test match.

The OVER – Ball-By-Ball:

1st Ball – The over started off with a stunning four that came off the top edge of Jasprit Bumrah’s bat and went to the fine-leg fence.

2nd Ball -Stuart Broad then produced a bouncer that was too short. It went over keeper Sam Billings‘ head.

3rd Ball – It was a no-ball from Broad as the top-edge off Bumrah’s bat took it over the keeper and it went all the way.

4th Ball – Bumrah smashed three fours in a row over mid-on.

5th Ball – The fifth legal ball of the over was a clean hit from the sensational Indian skipper which went all the way over the long leg.

6th Ball – Bumrah finished the over with a quick single to retain the strike for the next over.
