England’s fast bowler Jofra Archer was once deemed as the next big thing in the world of cricket, because of his sensational bowling technique and crazy speed. However, the player has been dealing with injuries for a long time now.
Jofra Archer Has Been Nursing Injuries For A Long Time

Archer has played considerable matches for England in the last two years due to injury. He last played Test cricket in February 2021. Archer was expected to make it to England’s squad for the Ashes 2023 which will kick start from June 16 in Birmingham but the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed that Archer would miss the English summer, which included the much-awaited Ashes series.
He was bought by the MI in the IPL 2022 mega-auction for INR 8 crore, however, the 28-year-old has failed to make an impact for Mumbai. He missed his first season for Mumbai because of a long-term injury, however, he did finally make a comeback in the 2023 season.
Archer played 5 games for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023, picking just two wickets before he suffered yet another injury in the form of a stress fracture in his elbow.
The star bowler was seen struggling throughout the tournament with fitness issues and because of the same, he missed five out of the first 10 games Mumbai Indians played in IPL 2023. Later on,Paltans confirmed Archer’s departure and said that the pacer’s recovery will be monitored by the England Cricket Board (RCB).
Kevin Pietersen Made A Big Statement On Archer’s Future
Meanwhile, former England skipper Kevin Pietersen came forward and opened up about the future of Archer with the national team. He feels that Archer’s time with the England national team could be coming to an end. In his blog for Betway, KP wrote:
“I’m gutted for Jofra. Absolutely gutted. I think this will probably end his journey with English cricket. I know that there are reports around a franchise contract, and that would be the smartest thing for him to do now. Take six months to recover, select a few tournaments to play, and bowl at the speed of light for a few months of the year. He would earn good money and still have a career in the game,”
The ace pacer Jofra Archer will have to wait some more time to recover and make his comeback in the cricket scene.
