India’s star batter KL Rahul has been going through a rough phase for a long time now. He has been struggling to score runs for many months now and because of his dismal performances, he has found himself at the receiving end of intense trolling and criticism.
KL Rahul Has Been Going Through A Tough Time
Rahul had a poor season during the Test series against Australia as he was seen struggling to establish any form. He could only score just 37 runs in his first two games. He was later benched before the 3rd Test match. Later, he showed glimpses of his old form in the ODI format, but the debate over his batting has lingered.
In fact, he failed to leave a mark with his bat in the ongoing 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League. His strike rate in the current season became the center of attention.
Several former cricketers and experts also joined in the debate regarding his form and whether he should be a part of the playing XI for India, especially with the World Test Championship 2023 final just around the corner.
Rahul On How Social Media Trolling Has Affected Him
Now, in the latest episode of “The Ranveer Show” podcast, Rahul opened up about his experiences with trolling in the last year and how that has affected him and his perspective towards the game. He said:
“That’s something that sometimes affects me and affects a lot of the other boys as well that when we athletes truly need support, people feel they can or have the power to comment or say what they want. Just see what that person is going through,”
He added: “None of us wants to perform badly. This is our life. This is all we do. Like I said, I don’t know anything else apart from cricket.”
“That’s the only thing I do. Why would anyone assume that I am not serious about my game or that I am not working hard enough? And unfortunately in sports, there is no connection. Like I said you can work hard, like I work hard but the result didn’t go my way,”
Notably, Rahul was ruled out of the ongoing season of the IPL after a few matches due to an on-field injury. In his absence, Krunal Pandya is leading the Lucknow Super Giants as a captain.
