Friday night at the Brabourne Stadium was a night to forget for Josh Hazlewood as the Royal Challengers Bangalore pacer was carted around the stadium by the Punjab Kings’ batters.

Hazlewood had been excellent in the season until today, having conceded runs at 6.82 runs an over, picking 13 wickets at an average of 16 in 8 matches. However, he had an off day, and a brutal one, versus Punjab Kings as he leaked 64 runs in four wicketless overs while PBKS put up a massive total of 209.

His first over went for 22 as his Ashes rival Jonny Bairstow smoked him for two fours and two sixes but made a good comeback with a 7-run over next. Hazlewood’s two overs were saved for the death by skipper Faf du Plessis.

His third over, the 16th, cost 11 runs in which Jitesh Sharma stroked him for a couple of overs. It was going to get worse for the lanky Australian as he came in the firing line of the in-form Liam Livingstone who smashed Hazlewood for 2 fours and as many sixes in a 24-run over as Hazlewood registered figures of 0/64, the worst by any bowler this season so far.

Further, the Australian also registered the worst-ever figures by an overseas bowler in IPL history. He went beyond Marco Jansen‘s 0/63 a few weeks ago versus Gujarat Titans earlier this season at the Wankhede.
