Boundary-rope catches remain among the most special forms of dismissal in cricket. Over the years, we have witnessed some stunning boundary-rope catches, however, ‘sensational’ is the word that could fall short while describing the catch that India’s star cricketer Harleen Deol picked in the ongoing 1st T20I between India and England at Northampton.
The incident took place in the 19th over of the innings when Harleen Deol was fielding at long-off when Amy Jones lofted one towards her.
Amy was batting on 43 off 26 balls when she hit Shikha Pandey towards wide long-off. Initially, it looked like the ball would fall beyond the boundary however Harleen put in a stunning effort to dance around the rope before catching the ball very cleanly. Deol got both her hands behind the ball but in doing so she almost threw herself behind the rope.
Soon releasing that she was about to step beyond the rope, Harleen act smartly and threw the ball in the air, collected herself, returned back inside the playing area, and caught the ball comfortably. Not just she stopped a maximum but also gave India a much-needed wicket.
