Gujarat Titans’ sensational opener Shubman Gill registered his 3rd Indian Premier League century and this time against the Mumbai Indians in the ongoing second Qualifier at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday.
Shubman Gill Played A Stunning Knock
Shubman Gill, who has been phenomenal in the ongoing season, had scored his other two tons against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore. He continued his purple patch in the ongoing game as well he smashed the MI bowlers to all the corners of the iconic stadium. He reached the triple-figure in just 49 balls.
Interestingly, his century has come at the same venue where he had smashed his maiden IPL century less than two weeks back. Not just this, Gill has already scored over 500 runs this season at the same venue. He is the only batter to reach the mark at a particular venue.
Gill was eventually dismissed by Tim David after scoring a whopping 129 runs off 60 balls. His stellar knock was laced with 10 sixes and 6 fours.
With this knock, Gill also became the second Indian batter to score 800 or more runs in a single season after Kohli’s sensational tally of 973 runs in 2016.
The century also helped Gill to consolidate his position at the top of the Orange Cap list. He only needed nine runs to surpass RCB skipper Faf du Plessis, who scored 730 runs in the season.
