In the latest ICC ODI Rankings, Indian cricketers are the biggest gainers, courtesy their thumping performance in the recently concluded 5-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.
India whitewashed Sri Lanka in the most dominating manner and proved to their supremacy. Sri Lanka were outplayed in all three departments of the game, in almost every inning. And, not to forget, that India started the tour by becoming the first ever visiting team to Whitewash Sri Lanka in a Test series.
Coming back to latest ICC ODI Team Rankings, India are now number 3 ODI team in the world with 5266 points to their credit, behind Australia and South Africa who have 5505 and 5957 points respectively.

Indian captain Virat Kohli scored successive hundreds in the last two matches of the series and he is now the number 1 batsman in ODI cricket, with 887 points to his credit. Australia’s David Warner is at number 2 position with 861 points. India’s opening batsman Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni also made entries into top 10, at number 9 and 10 position respectively.
This is a great achievement for MS Dhoni because before the start of the series, a section of Indian cricket fans and selectors were raising questions about his place and future in Indian cricket team. And, yet again, he proved that he is one of the best finishers in limited overs cricket for India.
