In a very rare sight on a cricket field, Ravindra Jadeja dropped a catch of any standard, let alone that it was a simple catch.
You feel that you have seen it all in cricket, and then Ravindra Jadeja dropping a dolly of a catch will leave you shocked. It’s so difficult to even remember the last time Jadeja spilled a catch in any format, at any position.
Today, against New Zealand at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala, he dropped a catch at the point position, a spot where he’s considered the best in the world at fielding and catching.
India would be hoping that this dropped catch from their superstar fielder – who had taken a sensational catch of Mushfiqur Rahim in the previous match at the same position – doesn’t come to hurt them much as it was the catch of Rachin Ravindra. Rachin is in fine form with the bat in this World Cup 2023 having hit a century against England and a fifty against the Netherlands.
It was a length ball outside off from Mohammed Shami that Rachin cut. It went straight to the knees of Ravindra Jadeja who stooped low and got both of his hands on the ball but couldn’t control the catch. Shami couldn’t believe it, and neither could the Indian fans that Ravindra Jadeja had dropped a sitter.
This led to a spate of memes on social media as Ravindra Jadeja dropped a catch:

India took two early wickets – Conway dismissed by Siraj and Young bowled by Shami – before Rachin and Daryl Mitchell rebuilt New Zealand’s innings.
