Everyone was left shocked as for a rare moment in his career, Ravindra Jadeja dropped a catch! Hailed as the best fielder in the world by many, Ravindra Jadeja dropped New Zealand batsman Rachin Ravindra’s catch on Sunday in Dharamsala.
New Zealand were in early trouble already at 40/2, and India got a big opportunity to make it 40/3, but Jadeja shockingly dropped a simple catch. For someone who’s taken stunning catches throughout his career, and is lauded as the best fielder in the world, Jadeja dropping a dolly of a catch eked out all kinds of reactions as fans were left flabbergasted at the sight of him spilling an important catch.
Jadeja’s wife Rivaba was sitting in the stands at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala and, like everyone, she too was surprised and shocked at Jadeja spilling a catching opportunity. Rivaba had her hands on her mouth in disbelief that Jadeja let go a catching chance to dismiss Rachin Ravindra.

It was a length ball outside off from Mohammed Shami that Rachin played a cut shot to. It went straight to the knees of Ravindra Jadeja who stooped low and got both of his hands on the ball but couldn’t control the catch. Shami couldn’t believe it, and neither could the Indian fans that Jadeja, arguably the best fielder in the world at the point position, had dropped a sitter.
India took two early wickets – Conway dismissed by Siraj and Young bowled by Shami – before Rachin and Daryl Mitchell rebuilt New Zealand’s innings.
