Yes, you read that right. The outfield at the beautiful Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala has been under the scanner of criticism because of its sloppiness. It came to the spotlight once again after the Indian captain suffered a major injury scare.
Rohit Sharma Suffered A Major Injury Scare
Team India won the toss and opted to bowl first in the game considering the dew factor in the second innings. The team was forced to make two changes to their playing XI after all-rounder Hardik Pandya got ruled out of the match due to an ankle injury.
Mohammed Shami and Suryakumar Yadav came in as replacements for Shardul Thakur and Hardik. On the other hand, the New Zealand side fielded an unchanged playing XI.
Meanwhile, India was off to a good start in the match as they dismissed two NZ batters inside 10 overs to set the stage on fire. However, the Men in Blue were handed a major blow when the captain hurt his finger. He was also forced to leave the field because of the same.
A video of the incident has gone viral on the internet, where Rohit Sharma has been seen sliding to stop the ball, and in the process, his finger got rubbed on the outfield and he got hurt.
Rohit Sharma was visibly disappointed after hurting his finger and he was taken immediately for some treatment. In Rohit’s absence, KL Rahul took the role of leading the team.

Is Rohit’s Injury Serious?
No. thankfully, Rohit’s injury was not a serious one as he returned back to the field in the 13th over and took over the captaincy.
Ironically, speaking at the toss, Rohit Sharma said that HPCA Stadium is a great place to place to play cricket and the team is looking forward to it. He said:
“We’ll bowl first. No reason, we were here training yesterday and felt a bit of dew comes in. Looks like a good pitch, we’ll back ourselves to chase. Quite important to keep the momentum going, forget what happened in the past,”
He added:
“Need to be at it all the time. This is one place everyone wants to come and play, beautiful weather and nice stadium. Hardik isn’t available, so does Shardul. We’ve got Shami and Surya.”
