Varun Chakravarthy returned with the figures of 1/20 in his quota of 4 overs and was later awarded the Player of the Match for his match-winning spell. Notably, the special thing about his knock was the fact that he bowled with the wet ball due to the drizzle.

SRH needed 38 runs to win from 30 balls, at one point in the game, and Varun Chakravarthy bowled 18 balls out of that and didn’t concede a run on 8 balls. He gave away just 8 runs and managed to defend 9 runs in the last over while dismissing Abdul Samad.

After the game, Varun talked about his performance in the game and revealed that his heartbeat was racing very fast during the last over of the game. He said:

“My heartbeat was touching 200 in the last over, but I wanted them to make hit to the longer part of the ground. The ball was slipping a lot and my best bet was the longer side and that was my only hope. My first over I went for 12 runs, Markram hit me for 2 fours and that’s how the game goes.” 

Further, Varun revealed that he made a slight change to his bowling as compared to last year. He added that he work on his revolutions. He explained: 

“Last year I was bowling around 85kmph, I was trying out many things and I realized that I needed to work on my revolutions and I did work on it.” 

Kolkata Knight Riders will be next seen in action in a game against Punjab Kings in their next game on Monday.
