SunRisers Hyderabad’s star pacer Umran Malik has been included in the playing XI for their last league game of the ongoing 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League against Mumbai Indians.
Umran Malik Made A Return To SRH’s Playing XI
Ahead of the crucial game, Umran Malik has opened up about his plans for the game against MI in their last league. He said that he hasn’t compromised his pace and is trying to bowl the right ones. Malik didn’t have a great tournament this time. He leaked a lot of runs and didn’t look in form. After a series of poor performances, Malik was dropped from the team post the first few games.
Malik played just 7 games in the tournament, where he managed to pick just 5 wickets at an economy rate of 10.35. It won’t be wrong to say that Malik didn’t get the desired backing from the team management.
However, he has finally made a return to playing XI in Sunrisers Hyderabad’s last game against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Malik would be hoping to end the ongoing season on high and make the most of the opportunity.
Ahead of the game, Umran said that he will look to perform in the last game and revealed that he has worked on his variations. Speaking to broadcasters, Umran said:
“I’m playing today. This year, I have bowled a few overs and taken only 5 wickets in 7 games. I believe in hard work. Today I get a chance, hopefully I perform well.”
He added: “I haven’t compromised on my pace, I am trying to bowl in the right areas and also working on variations. When the team needs wickets, I try to take wickets, otherwise I try to stop the flow of runs. I am playing after a while, so I’ll try to do my best and execute my plans.”
