RCB women’s player Richa Ghosh won the hearts of the fans with his blistering knock against Delhi Capitals women on Sunday night. However, the wicket-keeper batter faltered at the very last hurdle as RCB succumbed to a heart-shattering loss by only one run on the last ball of the game.
Chasing the target of 182, Ellyse Perry cracked 49 (32), and Sophie Devine scored 26 (16), but the limelight-stealing knock came from Richa Ghosh, who whacked 51 (29). However, Ghosh couldn’t take her side over the line on the last ball as she got run out when two runs were required off one delivery.
Richa Ghosh sank to her knees as she watched the runout replay on the giant screen. She was consoled by DC captain Meg Lanning and India teammate Jemimah Rodrigues.

Richa Ghosh has been in a marauding form in the WPL 2024 season. She has scored 190 runs at a strike rate of 158, having cracked 24 fours and 7 sixes.
In the post-match ceremony, the RCB skipper Smriti Mandhana said, “We have seen a lot of Richa in WPL and international cricket, Perry was going well, unfortunately she got run out. The game could have gone anywhere in the last ball and good on Delhi as well to keep their nerve and win. One run does not make us a bad team. Good effort with the shorter boundary to restrict them to 180. We really believed that we could chase this down. Would tell the girls to keep their heads high and come back stronger the day after.”
