Pakistan’s Mohammad Haris Takes Jibe At Indian Fans For Sending “Little Kids” To Emerging Asia Cup

Last month, Pakistan‘s Mohammad Haris took the Pakistani Shaheen (or Pakistan A) team to the Emerging Asia Cup trophy by defeating India A in the final in Colombo.

Batsman Tayyab Tahir‘s sensational knock of 108 runs off 71 balls lifted Pakistan A’s total to 352. The Indian team fought a bit with the bat but they could only manage to score 224 runs in 40 overs, leading to the defeat in the final.

However, Pakistan A’s win was belittled by the Indian fans because while Pakistan had a few internationally-experienced players and also a few in their mid and late 20s, the India A team, led by Yash Dhull, was comprised fully of youngsters and under-23 players.

Many even criticized the PCB for sending some players with international experienced and aged close to 30, while they praised the BCCI for giving a big opportunity to Indian youngsters.

This was met with a severe response from Mohammad Haris, who has played 5 ODIs and 9 T20Is for Pakistan.

“Ye kehte hai ki aapka international experience tha. International experience kitna hai. Saim ke 5 matche hai, mere 6 match hai. Saare T20 hai. Inke team pe IPL ke 260 matches ka experience hai.

(People are saying that Pakistan sent a team with many seniors. We did not ask them to send little kids to the tournament. They say that we had international experience in our team. How much international matches have we played but? Saim has played 5, I have played 6. Those guys [India A players] have played 260 IPL matches),” Mohammad Haris said in the podcast.

Pakistan won the Emerging Asia Cup final by a significant margin of 128 runs, handing India their first and only defeat of the tournament.
