The former India captain is currently in England where he attended the second and the third T20I match between India and England.

Ever since bursting onto the scene in the IPL, Pant has been touted as the heir apparent of Dhoni, and the youngster has, in the past 18 months, cemented his place in India’s all format elevens as the wicket-keeper batsman.

The Delhi Capitals skipper was also handed India’s captaincy last month in the home T20I series against South Africa. He had a disappointing start as India lost the first two matches, but turned it around with wins in the next two games, before the fifth T20I, in Bangalore, was washed out due to rain.

Pant is part of the leadership group and was named the vice-captain for the Edgbaston Test against England earlier this month with Jasprit Bumrah as the captain after both Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul were ruled out.

The left-hander struck a terrific century – 146 runs off 111 balls – in India’s first innings to help the team over 400 after they had lost half of the side under 100. Pant notched up a fifty in the second innings too, but it all went in vain as England won by 7 wickets.
