As MS Dhoni is set to leave Ranchi in the coming weeks, the 42-year-old paid a visit to the Maa Dewri temple in the Diuri village in Tamar near his hometown to take blessing from Goddess Durga and Kali for CSK’s title defense in IPL 2024.
This act further showed Dhoni’s humbleness and his belief in sticking to his roots despite all the fame and success. The 2011 World Cup-winning captain has regularly visited the Maa Dewri temple in the small village of Diuri near Ranchi over the years. It is located on the Tata-Ranchi Highway in Jharkhand. The ancient temple is believed to be over 700 years old with statues of goddess Durga and Kali.
With the IPL 2024 only about 6 weeks away, and MS Dhoni is expected to leave for Chennai to kick-start his training in the coming couple of weeks, the CSK captain took out time to visit the famous Maa Dewri temple.

MS Dhoni underwent knee surgery last year in June right after the conclusion of the IPL 2023 season when he led CSK to their fifth IPL title, defeating the Gujarat Titans in the final in Ahmedabad. Dhoni has not played professional cricket since then, skipping the domestic season, but will soon begin his training in Chennai.
The IPL 2024 season is likely to start on March 22 and will conclude by May 25, giving the players a week’s time to rest ahead of the T20 World Cup in June.
